World's Largest Volcano Becomes Active

A 5.0 magnitude earthquake was felt in Hawaii, USA on Friday, October 14, as the world's largest active volcano became active. Scientists say that now this volcano has become more restless.

According to the US Geological Survey, the volcano experienced a series of earthquake shocks. Earlier there was an earthquake of magnitude 4.6. After 24 seconds, an earthquake of magnitude 5.1 occurred. According to a statement from Hawaii's Volcano Observatory, the epicenter was south of the town of Pahala.

Hawaii County Mayor Mitch Roth said there were no reports of major damage or injuries. However, some buildings in Pahala have been slightly damaged. 

The volcano on Mauna Loa has not yet erupted, but scientists are constantly monitoring the volcano. Considering the safety of the people, the officials have appealed to them to go to a safe place. Residents are preparing to evacuate. If Mauna Loa erupts fully, its lava can reach a local area within hours.

Mauna Loa has been burning since last year

According to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, Mauna Lo recorded 200 earthquakes in March 2021. The magnitude of this earthquake was less than 2.5 on the Richter scale.
