Story: The tale revolves around a pair who have recently moved into a new apartment and start experiencing a few unnatural happenings within the house.

Overview: ‘the wife’ is a married couple, Varun (gurmeet Choudhary) and Arya (sayani datta), who quickly, after entering into their new rental, start experiencing some eerie sports. Arya notices these unnatural matters first and informs Varun. He, despite the fact that he has not noticed any happenings consciously, does get nightmares of a frightening presence within the residence. However, when their dating crumbles, they recognize that they ought to stick collectively to the most effective their marriage, but also their lives. Then we're introduced to Raima das (Shweta Dadhich), a professor with knowledge of the paranormal, so take a look. She confirms the presence of a spirit, but the best time will reveal why she is bothering the couple.

This horror film, directed by debutant creator-director Sarmad Khan, isn't about jump scares; rather, it's about the newlywed couple's romance as well as the spooky things they enjoy at home. This consistent unnerving feel keeps the visitors hooked in the course, but, the screenplay is sluggish and takes too long to come back to the point or even display a glimpse of the spirit. It’s the closing half-hour of the film and the climax that manages to send shivers down one's backbone. Manish More's enhancing is taut, which makes a clean transition from one scene to the next, but the storyline is predictable, which is disappointing.

Coming to the performances, Gurmeet looks promising as Varun and debutante Sayani datta is convincing, too. The pair's chemistry is so herbal that they appear at ease in any body. From expressions to their communication delivery, especially after they encounter supernatural sports, flawlessly conveys the emotions of their characters. Additionally, Gurmeet’s act elevates the impact of the climax.

All in all, 'the spouse' stays true to its genre. However, the pacing of the film appears onerous, as it takes too much time for the large screen. Despite the fact that, for a horror and suspense film, it only manages to provide a few scares.

Critic's score: 2.5 megastars
