Why Was Skyscraper Construction Prohibited In China?

Key Sentence:

  • In cities with a population from less than 3 million, there is no construction above 150 meters.
  • Increased harassment due to indiscriminate skyscrapers to show development

China has banned the construction from skyscrapers that are not a necessity but a sign of development. Instead, China's ruling Communist Party has ordered local governments to do so. China once featured tall city buildings as a sign of its economic progress but is now changing. China is home so many of the world's tallest buildings, such as the 8-meter-tall Shanghai Tower and Shenzhen's 7.1-meter Ping An Finance Center.

The investigation revealed that a 20-meter pillar above the building was incorrect, causing the building's halwa.

According so the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, cities with a population of less than 3 million are prohibited from constructing buildings taller than 150 meters and those with a population of more than 50 meters.

China has already banned the construction of buildings over 500 meters high but has now tightened the restrictions. In non-compliance with this new rule, the authorities approving the structure will be held accountable. Local officials are supporting indiscriminate constructions that have come to the attention of the Chinese government without a viable party.

A few months ago, a 6-meter-high 21-story building in Shenzhen collapsed.

The investigation revealed that a 20-meter pillar above the building was wrong which was responsible for the halwa of the building. After that incident, the construction of buildings with a height of more than 200 meters was banned. Not only that, now the new rules have been tightened, and local governments have been ordered to check high-rise buildings. The foundation stone, construction structure, electricity, water, gas line supply system, earthquake resistance, etc., will also be examined.
