WHO set to resume trials of hydroxychloroquine for Coronavirus treatment.

On Wednesday, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said that the clinical tests of the drug hydroxychloroquine are set to resume for Coronavirus treatment. Previously, the trails were suspended post a safety review in the search for the cure of Covid-19. WHO chief TedrosAdhanomGhebreyeus, in a virtual briefing, said,” on the basis of the available mortality data, the executive group will communicate with the principal investigators in the trial about resuming the hydroxychloroquine arm.”




ICMR scientist states India far from its peak:

In other news, the growth rate of infections in India, for the first time in over 2 months, has declined. One of the major causes for this decline is the slowing down of new cases in Maharashtra, which accounts for more than one-third of total coronavirus infections in the country. However, Indian Council Of Medical Research (ICMR) scientist, Dr Nivedita Gupta said that India is still “very far away from its peak“. According to the scientist, a peak signifies the point at which the daily total will start to fall. A total of over 8000 daily cases have been registered since the last 5 consecutive days.




India recovered patients cross 1 lakh mark:

The tally of the number of infections reached to 2,07,614 on Wednesday in India. A total of 5815 patients have succumbed to death and about 100,302 patients have recovered from the deadly virus. 





Goa reported it’s the biggest single-day rise in the number of cases after registering 47 fresh infections. Delhi numbers surged on 3rd June as it registered 1513 cases with 50 deaths today.

Tamil Nadu, the second-worst affected state reported 1286 fresh infections as the states tally rise to 27,872.



 

Globally, over 6378239 infections are reported to date with 380250 causalities.
