Vicky Cornell honors her late husband Chris on the fifth anniversary of his death: 'Forever and Forever.'
The wife of Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell honors his legacy on the fifth anniversary of his shock and unexpected death at the age of 52.
On Wednesday, his widowed wife, Vicki, 42, shared a long and heartfelt message on Instagram to mark his birthday, writing, "5 years ago today would have been the worst day of our lives."
"This was the last time Chris hugged and kissed us, the last time he walked out our front door. The last time he waved at us to the car. The last time we saw him," she wrote. "Five years ago, Chris would have been on stage for the last time tonight : "I've seen the quote 'You never know the last time it's going to happen,' and it sounds all too true. If you had told me before that fateful night hit the stage, the night would have ended like this - I would say you would never believe it. No one knew Chris did it. There was one last time in our lives, but now you never know it will be the last until you look back."
He later thanked his fans for "loving him so much" and concluded his message by urging listeners to "blow up your favorite Cornell songs and blow their love." In a separate post, Vicky shared a heartbreaking video about Chris.
"It's four in the morning, and I'm really awake, and I think about the day I lost you, we lost you, the world failed you - it's hard to believe it's been five years. Yet, I can't help but remember the 14 years we spent together. Magical and fairytale-like - almost too good to be true. I genuinely feel like the luckiest woman in the world, ending your eternal and unconditional love.
