US welcomes arrest of 26/11 attack mastermind and LeT commander Lakhvi

WASHINGTON: The US has invited the capture of Mumbai assault brains and Lashkar-e-Taiba tasks leader Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi in Pakistan, naming it an "significant advance" in considering him liable for his job in supporting psychological oppression and its financing. 

Lakhvi was captured on Saturday in Pakistan on fear financing charges, in the midst of developing global tension on Islamabad to deal with psychological militants meandering indiscriminately in the nation. 

UN prohibited fear monger Lakhvi, who was on bail since 2015 in the Mumbai assault case, was captured by the Counter-Terrorism Department  (CTD) of Punjab region. 

"We invite Pakistan's capture of fear monger pioneer Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi as a significant advance in considering him liable for his job in supporting psychological oppression and its financing," the South and Focal Asia Agency of the State Division said in a tweet. 



"We will follow his indictment and condemning intently and urge that he be considered responsible for his association in the Mumbai assaults," it said on Tuesday. 

Lakhvi was assigned as a worldwide fear based oppressor by the UN in December 2008 for being related with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and al-Qaeda and for "taking an interest in the financing, arranging, encouraging, planning or executing of acts by, related to, under the name of, for sake or on the side of" both the substances. 

A month ago, the UN Security Chamber's 1267 Al Qaeda Assents Council took into account a regularly scheduled installment of Pakistani Rupees 1.5 lakh for Lakhvi to meet his own costs. 

The LeT, driven by Jamat-ud-Dawa (JuD) boss Hafiz Saeed, is answerable for doing the 2008 Mumbai assault that executed 166 individuals, including six Americans. 

The global terror financing watchdog Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is instrumental in pushing Pakistan to take measures against psychological militants meandering openly in Pakistan and utilizing its region to complete assaults in India and somewhere else.
