Ukraine situation: Uefa to shift Champions League final after the Russian attack

Russia's attack on Ukraine leads to the change of venue of the CL final: 

The judgment will be made at Friday's emergency meeting of European football's governing body.

Russian President Vladimir Putin undertook a military attack on neighboring Ukraine on Thursday.

Fifa president Gianni Infantino tells football's world governing body has "a responsibility to look into the footballing results of what is happening."

With Russia and Ukraine both prepared to play World Cup play-off games in March, the military action was an element of discussions during a Fifa council meeting on Thursday.

Fifa said it would watch the case and intercommunicate updates on the qualifiers in due course.

"Fifa denounces the use of force by Russia in Ukraine and any roughness to settle disputes. Violence is never an answer, and Fifa calls on all forces to revive peace through productive dialogue," Infantino said.

Russia is set to play Poland on 24 March, while Scotland hosts Ukraine on the exact day.

Ukraine's domestic football league was set to continue this weekend after winter vacation, but that will stay suspended. Fifteen of the most current 23-man Ukraine team play in their homeland.
