Two decayed dead bodies found in a Mumbai restaurant, waiter – a prime suspect.
On Friday, two decomposed bodies were found in a Mumbai restaurant and a waiter has been detained over the alleged murder of the restaurant’s manager and another waiter. The decayed dead bodies were recovered from the water tank in the restaurant’s premises.
An Unidentified caller gave a tip of the killing:
Owner of the Shabari Bar and Restaurant in Mira Road, Gangadhar
Shetty told police that the restaurant was closed since the lockdown
announced in March, yet, three men – manager Harish Shetty, waiters Kallu Yadav
and Naresh Pandit had not returned to their native villages. Gangadhar added
that an unidentified caller gave him a tip-off about the murders of Harish and
Naresh on Thursday night, after which he informed the police. The police along
with Mira Bhayander Fire Brigade found out the two bodies from the water
tank around 1 am on the restaurant’s premises. The police revealed that both
the bodies were decomposed and had multiple stab wounds indicating that both
men may have been killed four days ago.
Waiter detained:
According to the police, Gangadhar had tried to contact manager Harish’s
number on May 31, but the latter didn’t pick it up. Within a few minutes,
Gangadhar received a call from waiter Kallu who had dialled the owner from the
hotel’s landline phone and informed him that waiter Naresh and manager Harish
had gone out. The next day, Gangadhar visited the restaurant and only met Kallu
there; the waiter allegedly told the owner that both Harish and Naresh had
returned back to their native villages.
Gangadhar then shifted Kallu to another
restaurant and locked it up.
Police have now detained the waiter in question, as he tried to flee the city
in vain on Friday. Police have started the investigations and are questioning
the waiter. Further details are awaited.
