Trump supports the gun lobby and criticises Biden

Key Takeaways:

Former US President Donald Trump shot the Joe Biden administration over the Texas school massacre on Friday, implying that the country prioritized the Ukraine war over school safety. Trump said the US government should focus on money for school security while speaking at the National Rifle Association (NRA) annual conference in Houston amid mounting calls for tighter gun control measures. "We should be able to do all it takes to keep our children safe at home if the United States had USD 40 billion to contribute to Ukraine."

We spent trillions of dollars in Iraq and Afghanistan and received nothing in return. "Before we create schools for the rest of the world, we should build safe schools for our children in our own country," the former president remarked.

The US recently approved $54 billion in aid to Ukraine to help the war-torn country rebuild.

"What's more repugnant is the haste to shift blame away from the villains who conduct acts of mass violence and onto the shoulders of millions of law-abiding folks who join organizations like our magnificent NRA," he said, alluding to gun reform activists. Trump also unleashed a scathing attack on the Democrats.

Despite new concerns about gun control, the NRA, one of the country's largest gun lobbying organizations, conducted the event on Friday. According to the lobby's website, the meeting paid honor to the victims of the Uvalde school tragedy. "Our hearts go out to the families and victims of this awful and evil murder." "We commend the bravery of school authorities, first responders, and those who volunteered their support and services on behalf of our members," it stated.

"While an investigation is ongoing and facts are still coming, we know that this was the act of a lone, disturbed criminal." "As we assemble in Houston, we will reflect on these events, pray for the victims, honor our patriotic members, and renew our commitment to making our schools safe," it continued.

This week, one of the bloodiest mass shootings in US history occurred when an 18-year-old man named Salvador Ramos opened fire, murdering 19 students and two instructors. The heinous crime occurred at a Texas primary school in the predominantly Latino town of Uvalde.

Ramos allegedly had a disagreement with his grandmother and shot at and seriously injured her on Ma y24. After shooting her, he took his automobile to Robb Elementary School and began the fire. Police later assassinated the accused.

The Uvalde shooting is the bloodiest in the United States since 20 kids and six staff members were killed on December 14, 2012, at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

Joe Biden tweeted shortly after the shooting, "These kinds of mass shootings rarely happen anyplace else in the world." Why are we ready to put up with this slaughter? Where in the name of God is our backbone to stand up to the gun lobby? "It is time to put this pain into action."
