Trump and Times Yet again & again!

Social media plays a huge role in today’s world. Its use is not restricted to getting in touch with our old friends or family. People are harnessing the potential of the media platform to share their happiness, sadness, ask for help, raise awareness, etc. It is also used as a marketing platform. Last, but not the least, the platform has been greatly used to express one’s views and opinions on various matters including their political leaders.

What is the news?

Elections always give rise to news! Naturally, USA elections are no exception to this! Mr Donald Trump, President of the USA is being criticized on social media. With US presidential elections around the corner, people have started engaging in spreading messages and are openly expressing views about their current President. Famous people have made it to the cover page of TIME magazine. So has Mr Trump! Recently, an image is going viral. The image shows Mr Trump on the cover page of the magazine and is captioned “Congratulations Mr Donald J Trump. You made to the cover of TIME Magazine again”. The cover page depicts a door open and Mr Trump exiting through it. The message is very clear –the President should step down from presidentship.

We naturally had to dive deep to verify the facts. On careful observations, we identified that a few items are missing, something unusual for an established magazine. The crucial information like the issue number, the issue date, the Time magazine website, etc. is strangely missing from the cover page.

Obviously, the image has reached far and wide. Even eminent personalities have reacted on the image. For example, Shobhaa De, an Indian columnist and novelist, has also reacted. She said that it is the act of pure brilliance. She said that the graphic design is ingenious.

Furthermore, the TIME magazine generally uploads their latest editions on their social media channels. However, we checked that latest edition of TIME magazine does not even mention Trump. They have instead tweeted about their latest issues here.

Taking into account all the subtle but important details, naturally, our verdict is that it is fake news. It is the work of an artist not happy with Mr Trump being the President of the United States of America.
