According to sources, Traci Braxton, the sister of Toni and Tamar Braxton, has died. She was just 50 years old at the time.


On Saturday, Toni, 54, posted a statement on Instagram announcing her sister's death.


"It is with the utmost regret that we inform you of the passing of our sister, Traci," she did write alongside a black-and-white picture of herself as well as her siblings.


"She was a bright light, a wonderful daughter, a wonderful sister, a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and a respected performer, to name a few. We'll miss her terribly, "Toni went on.


"Traci died this morning as the snow began to fall; she is now a snowflake. "We ask that you respect our privacy as we plan to send her home with love and celebrate her life," the "Un-Break My Heart" band says, "added the singer. "We will always be family."


The Braxton family also confirmed traci's death in a statement obtained by the source. TMZ first reported the news.


Kevin Surratt, Traci's husband, confirmed her death in a statement obtained by the source, stating that she died after a year-long battle with cancer.




"We have reached the point where we must inform the public that our beloved Traci Braxton has gone on to glory after a year of privately undergoing a series of Esophageal cancer treatments," Surratt said.


A representative for Traci tells the source that she was "surrounded by family and friends at the time of her passing."


Traci, who was born on April 2, 1971, grew up with her older brother Michael Jr. and sister Toni and her younger sisters Towanda, Trina, and Tamar, 44.


Traci's solo debut album, Crash & Burn, was released in October 2014. After her single "Last Call," the album was released.


In 2015, she released another single, "Perfect Time," before releasing On Earth, her second studio album, in 2018. That album included "Lifeline" and "Broken Things," which featured Toni, Towanda, 48, and Trina, 47, on guest vocals.


Traci also appeared on Braxton Family Values, her family's reality show, premiered in 2011. After a few years, she and her husband Surratt decided to enroll in the 3rd season of Marriage Boot Camp.
