The New Instagram Feature Helps Users Recover A Hacked Account.
Instagram introduces a new feature that helps users recover a hacked account. Facebook's social security platform, Security Checkup, walks people through steps including checking their credentials, updating contact information, and checking which accounts are sharing your knowledge.
In a blog post on Instagram, he said, "Security checks will guide people whose accounts may have been hacked through the necessary steps to keep them safe.
"This includes checking login activity, checking account information, checking accounts that shared credentials, and updating contact information to recover your accounts, such as phone number or email."
While the company notes that updating is "another way" to keep Instagram accounts secure, "there are a few other steps" they recommend ... a number and email when you determine that "Instagram sent you a DM."
Facebook, which Facebook owns, is improving its security features. For example, users with previously compromised accounts can now use the new security audit feature. In addition, users whose accounts have been hacked receive a warning when they log in, asking if they want to start a security scan.
This feature guides users through security measures, including verifying other account's sharing credentials, updating contact information to restore, and reviewing login activity. Instagram also plans to add support from two-factor authentication via WhatsApp and app authentication and phone number options.
Instagram currently sends account verification emails and can verify that the email is genuine by looking at the Instagram Email tab in Settings. However, after discovering more accounts, Instagram developed the security feature, impersonating Instagram in instant messages to get people to share their passwords.
An improved security feature is a change to the email to reset the password stored in the mailbox. In addition, sometimes emails come from Instagram bots trying to access multiple accounts simultaneously, which doesn't mean the funds have been hacked. Other tips include reporting suspicious content and accounts and enabling "login requests."
