The independent Blond Hair Gene Named TYRP1.

People of Solomon Islands have a gene named TYRP1 that causes blond hair despite their dark skin. Researchers showed this gene is unrelated from the European blondness and involved independently!

The preeminent Solomon Islands is a member of the commonwealth in the Oceania continent. The blond hair of the natives has been a mystery for scientists, lasting decades.

Natives have mixed opinions on the topic, some say it is because of their rich diet and sun exposure, some say it came through gene flow European explorers! Studies show it is a recessive trait, meaning it can persist in individuals without expression in Phenotype.

The trait might have actually developed as a neutral mutation in one individual and passed on. The research concluded it to be the action of a single gene named TYRP1 which is completely unrelated to Europeans and endemic to the Melanesian region with only 10% of the islanders having it.
