The vaccine is currently being produced on a large scale in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Due to the high demand for the vaccine in the country, it will now start production in Ankleshwar. Ankleshwar-based subsidiary Chiron Behring Vaccines has an annual production capacity of 200 million doses. The unit will begin production of the corona vaccine by stopping the production of the antiretroviral vaccine.
The company had previously produced a vaccine for rabies.
Chiron Behring Vaccine Pvt. Ltd. of Ankleshwar was producing a rabies vaccine called Tabbies. As the company is a subsidiary of Chiron Behring Vaccine Company, a subsidiary of Bharat Biotech, they will also be growing covacin shortly.
