No other Hollywood production has hit the box office since the pandemic began two years ago. Over the weekend, worldwide box office revenue for the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film topped $1.05 billion.

The joint production between Sony and Disney reached its milestone less than two weeks after its premiere, although Omicron Covid-19 quickly spread worldwide, raising new concerns about indoor events.

The film was not released in China, currently the world's largest film market. In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker's third iteration with MJ from Zendaya and Benedict Cumberbatch as magician Dr. Weird back. The series is a collaboration between Marvel studios Disney and Sony.

In 2015, Disney, Marvel Studios, and Sony agreed to share the film rights to Spider-Man, resulting in new iterations of the character being introduced and incorporated into the Marvel cinematic universe.

Before No Way Home, MGM's latest James Bond film, No Time to Die, which grossed $774 million at the worldwide box office, was Hollywood's highest-grossing film of both 2021 and the pandemic.
