Spain: Illegal tobacco factory exploits 10 Ukrainian workers

10 Ukrainian workers were exploited in a raid on an illegal tobacco factory in northern Spain, a Spanish Civil Guard spokesman said on Monday. The spokesman told the Associated Press that half of  Ukrainians live in Spain with refugee status. he factory was one of three attacked by security forces  in a nationwide operation against a  tobacco smuggling criminal organization.They arrested a total of 27 people and confiscated cigarettes and tobacco leaves worth 37.5 million euros ($41 million). 

The ringleaders possessed luxury vehicles, jewelry and large amounts of cash, which were confiscated in the raid. More than 20 apartments, industrial buildings and shops have been registered. Spain is home to more than 150,000 Ukrainian refugees who have been granted temporary protection status  after fleeing their war-torn country.
