Sophie Ellis-Bextor raises £1 million for Children In Need's 24-hour dance.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor said she was going for a "hot bath" after raising more than £1 million from the 24-hour Children in a Need dance challenge. During the singer's charity dance marathon, she moves day and night continuously.

Radio 2 breakfast host Zoe Ball later announced that Ellis-Bextor had raised £803,384 for children's charities in the UK. The overall total rose to £1,009,317 an hour after the challenge ended and continues to increase.

Speaking to News on the ninth hour of the challenge, Ellis-Bextor said starting a family was the best preparation for his endurance performance. "I haven't run in a long time," he said. "But since I have small children, recently I've been doing what I do with little sleep."
