As temperatures rise, so do humidity and heat, and if you look closely, your skin demands extra attention. In addition, heavy creams and winter textures can clog pores and cause additional skin problems, so you all must to adjust your skincare routine to your environment and weather. Dr. Rinki Kapoor, Consultant Dermatologist, Cosmetic Dermatologist, and Dermatologist, The Esthetic Clinics, shares simple steps you can follow to achieve flawless skin this summer.

The first thing to change is your facial cleanser: Summers are sweaty, and skin releases more oil to deal with hot and humid weather. Therefore, you should clean your face twice a day and use an appropriate gel or foam, water-based (for oily skin) or non-foaming (for dry and combination skin). Make sure your detergent is alcohol-free and pH neutral.

Use face mist before serum and moisturizer: Face mist fills and refreshes the skin. Just spray and hold about 8 inches from your face.

Toner and Moisturizer: Oil-free and lightweight serums and moisturizers are just what your skin needs this summer. Use an inner shine serum and moisturizer to stay hydrated and provide extra nourishment to your pores.

Introduce antioxidants into your skincare routine: Antioxidants moisturize the skin and help fight free radical damage. A vitamin C serum or cream is an excellent option for fighting sun damage. Antioxidants also stimulate collagen and prevent premature aging of the skin. You can also get a good dose of antioxidants by including green leafy vegetables, citrus fruits, and nuts in your daily diet.

Hydrate Whenever Possible: Moisturizing skin from the inside out is key to thicker, healthier, younger-looking skin. There are many ways to restore moisture to the skin. The first thing on the list is to drink water regularly. Other options include a hydrating hyaluronic serum during the day a hydrating or gel-based mask at night to rehydrate and soothe the skin. Apply briefly during the day to allow the face to mist.

Remember to exfoliate regularly: use a mild exfoliator twice a week. It is needed to remove dead skin cells, open pores, remove dirt and grime on the skin, and improve blood circulation. Don't miss your lips, neck, and upper chest when exfoliating. Make sure you are gentle on the skin, or you will bruise and develop sensitive skin.

Sunscreen is a must: UV rays are powerful in summer. The damage caused affects the skin and causes pigmentation, uneven texture, fine lines, age spots, dull skin, and wrinkles. Therefore, broad-spectrum sun protection with SPF 40 is necessary for all skin types. Sunscreen is also essential when indoors. Set a reminder to reapply sunscreen every few hours.

Caring for your makeup: Applying makeup makes the skin unable to breathe because moisture and heat are harsh on the skin. Therefore, consider light energy-based products or tinted balms and moisturizers for the face.

Night care is still essential: Summer doesn't mean you can give up your nighttime routine. Use an oil or night cream before going to bed. You can also opt for some good night masks to replenish skin cells at night.

Eyes, feet, and lips should not be neglected: invest in a good eye gel and sunscreen lip balm for adequate protection. Also, put sunscreen on your feet, and don't forget to exfoliate and moisturize them.

In summer, take good care of your skin, avoid overexposure, and try to stay calm and avoid moisture. Good skincare is the only way to restore your skin's natural balance and health.
