It's no secret that Barbados pop and rhythm and blues (R&B) singer Rihanna is comfortable with her performance, be it in her song or at the 94th Academy Awards, where she glamorized Beyonce and Jay-Z's baby bump at the Star Sashaying party. In a topless, floor-length black Valentino gown, Oscar whimpered in maternity clothes. The controversial Chateau Marmont Hotel party, reportedly boycotted by a hospitality union over allegations of mistreatment of team member Rihanna, stole the show by grabbing her eyeballs and sending her jaw-dropping against her sultry face and her baby swelling up.
The photos that have since flooded the internet reveal Rihanna was still present, even though she was not nominated for an Oscar. The images show the diva ending her legs in a black organza turtleneck dress with a bustier and a long organza skirt with sequin embroidery.
It was specially designed for her by Italian fashion designer and creative director of Valentino, Pierpaolo Piccioli. The sheer black band bodice and sequined skirt featured chunky organza sleeves, where Rihanna wore a pair of multicolored black opera gloves that could be seen through the mesh of her maternity wear.
Designed by Jahleel Weaver, American fashion designer, stylist, and associate creative director of his fashion house Fenty, Rihanna completed the look with a pair of black and white earrings. The fashion cop can't standstill.
Rihanna shared her views on maternity wear in an interview with Refinery29 in February this year, saying, "Right now, I'm pushing the idea of sexy. When women are pregnant, society tends to hide, be sexy and not sexy, [but] You're going back there, and I don't believe in that bullshit. So I tried things I probably didn't dare to do before getting pregnant. The more ribbon, the thinner and more cutouts, the better for me."
