Merseyside Police said they were probing "news of an alleged assault" at Goodison Park on Saturday.
A representative stated they were liaising with both Manchester United and Everton.
"As players, we're exiting the pitch at 2.30 pm; it was noted that a boy was attacked by one of the away squad as they left the pitch," they added.
"Investigations are underway, and officers are working with Everton to check CCTV footage and conduct extensive eyewitness inquiries to establish if a crime has occurred."
