Pakistan will host champions Trophy 2025, says Anurag Thakur
The ICC on Tuesday announced the cricket tournament for the next eight years (2024-2031). One ICC tournament will be played every year from 2024 to 2031. The event is going to host the Champions Trophy 2025 Pakistan. The Government of India and the Ministry of Home Affairs can discuss this. On the issue, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said that the Indian government and the home ministry would jointly decide whether the Indian team would go to Pakistan or not. He said a decision would be taken in due course.
Talking to the media, Thakur said that the Government of India and the Home Ministry would decide on the issue in due course. After considering all the aspects during the international championship, it decided which country to send the team to and where not to send it. So far, many countries have canceled tours to Pakistan, and there have been attacks on many players. Since this is a serious issue, the decision will be made with understanding in mind.
Pakistan will play to save the trophy at home.
Pakistan, who won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017, will take to the field to defend the trophy at their home ground. Eight teams will participate in this tournament also will play 15 matches. According to the information received now, Pakistan may also be asked to shift the game to UAE. India also took this decision as a result of the Covid epidemic. The tournament could go to the UAE after New Zealand and England cancels the tour.
Pakistan has the experience to host 26 matches.
In the 1987 World Cup, Pakistan co-hosted the ICC ODI World Cup with India. Thirty-seven games were played in the 1996 World Cup, including 17 in India, 16 in Pakistan, and 4 in Sri Lanka.
A total of six teams have toured Pakistan since the 2009 terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team. Zimbabwe first played 4 T-20 matches here in 2015. World-11 then played three games here. Sri Lanka in 2017, West Indies in 2018, Bangladesh in 2020, and South Africa in 2021 also played matches in Pakistan. However, New Zealand and England have since canceled the tour.
