North Carolina, Virginia Shook By The Most Remarkable Earthquake In Region Since 1916.

A size 5.1 quake along North Carolina's fringe with Virginia on Sunday shook homes and shook dishes as distant as Atlanta. No genuine harm or wounds were promptly revealed. 

The U.S. Topographical Survey said the tremor was the most grounded to shake the area since a greatness 5.2 shudder in 1916. Sunday's earthquake, which struck at 8:07 a.m., was focused only southeast of Sparta, North Carolina, around 100 miles north of Charlotte. "It felt like a major train passing by and a major wave coming underneath the bed," Sparta Mayor Wes Brinegar told. "A major wave coming to lift you. ... I've lived here as long as I can remember and have felt nothing like that." 



Brinegar said a few establishments evidently split and books were knocked off racks. In excess of 100 miles toward the south in Stanley, Gary Hooper was perched on my lounge chair when the quake hit. 

"I felt the lounge chair move and afterwards out of nowhere it just shook the entire house for four or five seconds, despite the fact that at the time it had a feeling that it was any longer," Hooper said. "I thought it was a tree falling." 

The shake shook inhabitants out of their beds and attracted a group to web-based life. 

"OMG!!! We encountered a tremor in Charlotte, NC at the beginning of today!!! Our entire house shook!!!" tweeted DJHiPrayzeRadio. "We are alright. There is no harm that we can detect!!!" Bill Griesmyer, a specialist in Charlotte, said the shudder was sufficiently able to drive individuals out of their homes. 

"Not a major one but rather shook the house and brought the neighbours out in their yards to perceive what occurred," he said. In Atlanta, Aisha Howard tweeted that "I realize I've been conscious since 430am however I'm almost certain my condo just shook in midtown ATL. I may need to get some rest"
