Nikki Bella explains why she maintains her long-term relationship with Artem Chigvintsev

Key Takeaways:

Nikki Bella is speaking up about her relationship with fiancé Artem Chigvintsev.

The Total Bellas star, 38, spoke with source about her engagement, which began in November 2019, while attending the 2022 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday evening.

"I think being a reality star for 7 years, I took on such a journey that they still have input on my life," Bella stated when asked about her and Chigvintsev's choice not to rush into marriage.

"So, at times, I feel compelled to defend this because I'll see people are saying all these things online and turn it into a negative," she continued. "It's not a negative," she says.

Bella explained that "creating a house" together and sharing their 11-year-old son Matteo Artemovich are two major reasons the pair hasn't married yet. "Life is quite demanding. We're both barely home at the same moment. There's a lot more [to concentrate on], and I don't want to say significant things in life, but there's a lot more [to concentrate on], "she revealed.

"I mean, we want Matteo to go to private school, so instead of spending what private schools cost on florals at our wedding, I believe I'll go with education," the mother of one explained.

In 2017, the former WWE wrestler met Chigvintsev, 39, when paired on Dancing with the Stars.

After dating for over four months with "no labels," they made their relationship official in July 2019 and engaged four months later. They were anticipating their first child in July 2020.

Nikki Bella expressed similar comments on a special edition of her and sister Brie Bella's The Bellas Podcast last month, confirming that she still intends to marry Chigvintsev at some point in the future.

She revealed, "I will be getting married in the March podcast edition, and I can't wait." "For myself, I do what I do. As a result, I'll marry Artem whenever I want, for myself, Teo, and him, for the rest of my life."

Nikki recently spoke with source about her wedding plans in February, saying that she and her fiancé "are looking at Paris right now."

"We think it'll be the simplest to get his parents there," she added. "We're still working on dates, so we'll see," she says, "but we're thinking Paris would be ideal."

In terms of a wedding date, Nikki expressed her desire for the wedding to take place within the next several months but said that "there are just a lot of issues right now."

According to the source, the actress wants her wedding day to be a great party. She explained, "I usually go big." "The number of people who attend may be tiny, but it will still be a big event."
