Nick Cannon Reacts to the Cancellation of His Talk Show

Key Takeaways:

Nick Cannon remembers his time on the talk show with fondness.

The talk show host discussed the news that his show had been canceled after only one season on Thursday's episode of The Nick Cannon Show. Though Cannon, 41, was disappointed by the news, he explained why the decision was made.

"Isn't this show business? And we all know that the most important word there is 'business,' which is a business. "During the show's Rumor Report segment with Angela Yee, he explained. "As a businessman, I understand that as much fun as we have on the show, business is what keeps everything running."

"To be honest, I get up bright and early every day to put on a show for you, but I'm also a businessman, as well as you understand when there are certain forms and platforms," he said. "Being able to do this for you every day has been a dream come true for me, but my business mind wants to expand and elevate in some way."

Cannon continued by thanking his production crew and the audience, describing them as "the best I've ever dealt with."

"Over the last six months, what this has shown me is that you guys have truly become my family," he stated. "This is the hardest-working crew I've ever encountered. Thank you for everything... we laughed together, cried together, and prayed together. And, as I always say, "I'm here to do what I can and leave the rest to God."

He then concluded his speech by assuring his audience that "we still have more shows" and that he would not be going anytime soon.

"I'm still going to be here, and I'm still going to do this," he stated. "I'm not going anywhere," she says, "but it's about broadening my audience and tapping into it in a big way."

"This isn't over yet; there are still more shows to come. "I'm excited to be a part of a business in which I get to try so many different things," he added, before adding, "This is not the last show." It's been a true blessing and a dream come true, and I'm grateful to you all for allowing me to follow my dreams and enter your homes."

In September 2021, The Nick Cannon Show debuted on Fox and in syndication. According to Deadline, the show hasn't been doing well in the ratings in recent months, and it was the lowest-rated single-host daytime syndicated talk show this season.

In a statement obtained by sourceĀ earlier on Thursday, Mort Marcus as well as Ira Bernstein, co-presidents of the show's producer-distributor, Lionsgate's Debmar-Mercury, stated the show's cancellation.

"It's never easy to cancel a show with obvious potential, but after much thought and consideration of various options, we have formed the difficult business decision to halt production on Nick Cannon," Marcus and Bernstein said. "We owe our gratitude to Nick Cannon and our incredible production team, and we wish Nick continued success in his numerous hit ventures."
