'Never Say Never,' Tom Brady says of a possible return to the NFL after retiring.
Tom Brady announced his retirement from the NFL in a lengthy Instagram post earlier this month.
Tom Brady has spoken about his retirement from the NFL and the possibility of returning. On the newest episode of his podcast, Let's Go!, the seven-time Super Bowl champion, 44, discussed his recent announcement.
When asked about his football future, Brady told his co-host, Jim Gray, on Monday, "I'm just going to take things as they come. I think that is the best way to put it; also, I don't think anything, you know, you never say never."
He went on, "At the same time... I'm thrilled with my decision. But, I'm not sure how I'll feel in six months."
Brady stated that he wants to "make the best decision I can at the moment, as I did last week."
"And, once again, I don't think it's looking to change course, and I'm certainly not looking to do so. But, at that time, I believe you must be realistic about the fact that you don't know what challenges you will face in life, "He continued. "Again, I had a great time playing. Other than playing, I'm looking forward to doing other things. That's as truthful as I can be with you, Jim."
"I have done a so much of reflecting this past week or have asked myself difficult questions," he captioned a photo of himself playing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished. My teammates, coaches, fellow competitors, and fans all deserve my full attention, but for the time being, it's best that I leave the field to the next generation of dedicated and committed athletes."
He admitted that the message was "difficult for me to write" and that "I am no longer going to make that competitive commitment."
