Netizens demand to ban TikTok, as ratings crash; TikTok influencer Faizal Siddiqui accused of allegedly instigating violence against women.

#YoutubeVsTikTok started as a debate where influencers and celebrities from both the platforms showed how their respective platform is the best for content and business. But the debate has embroiled itself into a controversy as netizens demanded Ban of TikTok and its's ratings sunk. TikTok ratings took a hit on the Google Play Store falling from a rating of 4.6 out of 5 to just 2 stars. ByteDance, the owner of the short-video application, is the most valued private technology company in the world at $100 billion. 

The rating of TikTok Lite, made for low-end smartphones fell to 1.1 stars. With 200 Million active users, India is the fastest growing and the largest market for TikTok. As per 2020 April data, TikTok saw a 2.5 times rise in the number of downloads as compared to the previous year at 107 Million, out of those close to 22% come from India, which is staggering.

 YouTube celebrity Carry Minati lambasted a TikTok star in his rant on the #YoutubeVsTikTok debate and the video got over 70 Million views before being taken down on Friday in lieu of cyber-bullying. This triggered the netizens who started calling for a ban on TikTok.

Amidst the heat, TikTok influencer Faizal Siddiqui was accused of allegedly instigating violence against women in one of the videos. Siddiqui, who has over 12 Million followers, denied the accusation and stated that the video was a month old and was edited to misguide the viewers. TikTok suspended Siddiqui's account and also took down videos showing cruelty towards animals. The National Commission of Women is also slated to notify the government of the issue and ban TikTok.

 TikTok responded by highlighting the fact that they do not entertain or encourage content which goes against their rules and warned it's users to watch what they post.
