MS Dhoni a Small village boy
“Rising from humble starting in a small town, you burst onto the national scene, made a name for yourself, and mainly made India proud. Where we come from does not mean as long as we know where we are commanded this is the quality that you have exuded and encouraged many youngsters with.”
Dhoni grew up in MECON society at Ranchi, moved to DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir school, and worked as a ticket representative in the Indian Railways. Till the twist of the century, stardom in Indian cricket was basically restricted to the large metropolises. Dhoni broke the glass roof.
His rise to prominence conceded many budding cricketers from small towns, and even from villages, to dream huge dreams. Suresh Raina, Munaf Patel, R P Singh, Piyush Chawla all of them followed in Dhoni’s footsteps.
