Migration Bill:The kuwait Expat Bill could force 8 lakh indians to leave the Gulf country.

Currently, the Kuwaiti government has introduced a bill to determine the number of tourists. If the bill becomes law, about 8 lakh Indians will have to return home. There are currently 13 lakh Indians in Kuwait, of which the number of Gujarati people are not more than 35 thousand. While there are about 3 million tourists from other countries. As many as 8 lakh Indians could be forced to return home if the proposed law goes into effect.

A provision is proposed under the new law not to issue driving licenses to tourists for one year and after one year, they can own only one car. Travelers will have to prove their educational qualifications by giving an exam according to Kuwaiti criteria or standard and till then they will be considered in the lower standard grade.

Most of the Gujarati people living in Kuwait are educated and work in engineering, management, software, medical, accountancy, or legal fields. Unskilled labor is rare among Gujarati people. However, according to the revised rules for tourists, which came into force in 2018, some people are being exploited under the so-called Nitakat law in Kuwait. The issue was discussed between the foreign ministries of the two countries after talks with a delegation of Indians based in Kuwait before former External foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj but to no avail. At the local level, Gujarati people are perceived as a peaceful, energetic, and sociable community, so, they never clash with locals or other tourists.
