Metaverse Fashion Week attracts big brands and start-ups

Decentraland's four-day Metaverse fashion week kicks off on March 24 and promises to feature a virtual roster of global brands that stand out.

- Metaverse's first fashion week will host digital shows and experiences during the four-day event from March 24-28.

- Metaverse Fashion Week will be held on Decentraland's virtual platform, where participants' 3D avatars can display properties for sale.

- Decentraland uses the MANA cryptocurrency and is powered by the Ethereum blockchain. The event is dedicated to a digital space available to all visitors who can participate in panel discussions, shopping, track shows, and after-parties in its inaugural year.

- Designers at the event included Jonathan Simhai, Movalola, and Colina Strada.

- The event opened last night by UK department store Selfridges, which announced a partnership for NFT with villas Victor Vasarely and Paco Rabanne in early 2022. It features new artwork and digital rendition of Raban's first 12 unwearable youth dresses, initially made in 1966.

- At Metaverse Fashion Week, Selfridges reinvented the digital space to remind Birmingham stores to showcase their NFTs (mentioned above) in gallery-style exhibitions. Consumer avatars are also allowed to receive artwork tours.

- For the lineup at the fashion show, the event will be hosted by Liquid Paisley's Etro on March 25.

- Dolce and Gabbana also offered a glimpse of their appearance in today's NFT collection.

- Other presenters include Perry Ellis, Roberto Cavalli, and Tommy Hilfiger.

- For shopping, Giuseppe Zanotti launched a limited number of 1,000 Cobra NFT sneakers. They are suitable to be worn by unique avatars.

- The after-party features international artists celebrating the non-traditional Hogan sneakers; Republique and Monnier Paris are collaborating on a dedicated "wearable" store that will house the Coach, Ester Manas, and Wandler brands; and Braw Haus shows NFT options.

- Grimes and Auroboros will also collaborate on musical performances.

- Lanvin and Chanel's films were showing in digital cinemas.
