Madonna's son David Banda, 16, wears a replica of the famous 90s Adidas gown
Adidas x Gucci design David Banda walks down the aisle in memory of his mother, Madonna, who wore a similar dress in 1993. As a mother, such a child.
Madonna's 16-year-old son, David Banda, showed off his iconic style Saturday night - and gave us some serious fashion retrospect.
It was an ode to the dress her mother wore in 1993 the red and white striped Adidas gown she photographed at the premiere of Sleepless with Rosie O'Donnell in Seattle.
Gucci referred to it as "past and present" in an Instagram post on Monday.
"Part of the official collaboration between the sportswear brand and Laura Whitcomb of Label NYC, the original archive has been reworked by Alessandro Michele as part of his Exquisite Gucci collection," the brand said in a statement. The music icon also shared a series of photos from that night with his son, and he also wore three white all-black Adidas brand stripes.
Although she's been busy working on her upcoming biopic, which she co-wrote with Academy Award winner Diablo Cody (Juneau), over the past few months, she's taken time off to spend with her son, with whom she's married and says she's very close to him.
"He looks the most like me," she told British Vogue in 2019. "I feel like he understands me; he has more of my DNA than my kids ever had." The gang is one of Madonna's six children, and she shares an older brother Rocco Ritchie who is 16 years older than her ex-husband Guy Ritchie.
In 2006, the couple adopted Banda, who had pneumonia and malaria when he was 13 months old. Her mother died in her native Malawi in childbirth.
The Grammy winner is also the mother of 25-year-old Lourdes Leon, who shares with Carlos Leon, and adopts 16-year-old Mercy James and twins Stella and 9-year-old Esther from Malawi.
