Legendary Singer Barry Manilow Delays Vegas Shows Amid Lung Cancer Recovery

Renowned singer and music legend Barry Manilow has announced the postponement of his upcoming Las Vegas residency shows so he can concentrate fully on his health and recovery following cancer surgery. The 82 year old Grammy entertainer reassured fans that he is “recovering very well” after undergoing surgery late last year to remove a cancerous spot from his lung.

Manilow’s decision affects his Westgate Las Vegas residency dates originally scheduled from February 12 to 21, 2026. The postponement comes just weeks before the scheduled start of his 2026 arena tour which he described as part of his farewell performances. According to his statement, the extra time to rest and heal ahead of the tour was “what the doctor ordered.”

Why Barry Manilow Is Postponing the Dates

Manilow revealed in a heartfelt statement that although he is making good progress, his medical team advised that he take additional time before performing full concerts again. The decision to delay the Vegas shows was based on guidance from his doctors with a clear focus on ensuring he is physically ready for the demanding schedule of live performances later this year.

“I’m doing great and recovering very well after my surgery,” Manilow shared. “I’ve been getting exercise and spending some time in the studio, which has been fantastic. With my doctor’s guidance and recommendation, however, we have decided to postpone my residency dates so I can stay focused on healing and getting ready for the tour that’s kicking off at the end of February.”

Thousands of fans responded with supportive messages on social media, wishing him strength and a full recovery. Many expressed admiration for his transparency and his dedication to his craft even while prioritizing his health.

Health Update and Cancer Treatment

Barry Manilow first revealed his cancer diagnosis in late December after experiencing prolonged bronchitis. On a doctor’s recommendation, he underwent an MRI that uncovered a cancerous spot on his left lung which doctors discovered in the early stages.

In his first announcement, Manilow said that the cancer was found early by “pure luck” and shared his relief that the cancer had not spread. He also encouraged others to stay vigilant about their health and follow through on medical advice when symptoms persist.

Impact on Las Vegas Residency and Tour Plans

All tickets for the postponed shows at Westgate Las Vegas will be fully refundable and fans will be updated on new dates once they are announced. Manilow is expected to return to Las Vegas later in the year with new residency performances scheduled for March 26 to 28, 2026.

Despite the postponement, Manilow’s larger touring plans remain on track. He is scheduled to launch his 2026 arena tour on February 27 in Tampa, Florida before traveling to cities across the United States through late April. His tour is expected to include major venues and conclude in Duluth, Georgia.

This tour marks a special moment in the artist’s career as many fans have referred to it as a farewell tour. Through decades of hits like “Copacabana,” “Mandy,” and “Can’t Smile Without You,” Manilow has maintained a loyal global fan base that spans generations.

Fan and Industry Reaction

Support from fans poured in after Manilow’s update with many expressing sympathy and encouraging him to take all the time needed to fully recover. Comments ranged from prayers for good health to reminders of the joy his music has brought to listeners’ lives.

Music industry commentators have echoed this sentiment, praising Manilow for his honesty and commitment to his health while acknowledging his lasting influence on pop music and live performance culture.
