Jane's Addiction Cancel Tour Following On-Stage Brawl Between Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro
American rock band Jane's Addiction has abruptly canceled the remaining dates of their U.S. tour, following an on-stage altercation between frontman Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro during a performance in Boston, Massachusetts. The incident, which took place at the Leader Bank Pavilion on Friday night, saw the 65-year-old Farrell punch Navarro, 57, before being restrained by staff and taken off stage.
In a statement released on social media on Monday, the band announced the cancellation of the remaining 12 tour dates, which were scheduled to conclude in Los Angeles on October 16th. Fans who had purchased tickets will receive refunds at the point of purchase.
Footage from the Boston concert shows tensions erupting between Farrell and Navarro, reportedly due to Farrell's frustrations over the band's volume during performances. Farrell’s wife, Etty, commented that the altercation was the culmination of “tension and animosity” that had been building between band members night after night.
Jane's Addiction, a pioneering band in the early alternative rock scene, formed in Los Angeles in 1985 and quickly gained a reputation for their boundary-pushing music and energetic performances. The band, featuring Farrell, Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Eric Avery, reunited after more than a decade apart. Their notable hits include "Just Because," "Been Caught Stealing," and "True Nature."
Despite their success, this incident marks a significant setback for the group, who had been in the midst of a major U.S. tour. The band’s fans had eagerly awaited their return to the stage following their reunion.
Jane's Addiction’s legacy includes four albums, Nothing's Shocking (1988), Ritual De Lo Habitual (1990), Strays (2003), and The Great Escape Artist (2011). In 2013, the band was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, cementing their place in rock history.
As of now, it remains unclear if and when the band will return to the stage, but the recent events have raised questions about the future of their collaboration.
