India reports fresh 6,088 Coronavirus cases; Home ministry warns state governments.
The total number of Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours in India were 6,088. This is yet again the biggest single-day tally of cases reported. The fresh infections took the tally of total coronavirus cases to 118,447.
The death toll climbed up to
3,583 on Friday as 140 new deaths were reported as per The Union Health
Ministry's data. A total of 48,533 people have recovered from the fatal virus
taking the recovery rate beyond the 40% mark for the first time. This is a
positive indication in the battle against the pandemic, as India becomes the
11th highest registered cases nation in the world. Maharashtra reported more
than 2000 new cases for a fifth consecutive day taking the state's tally over
41,000.
The worst affected state due to Coronavirus in India saw it's death toll rise to 1,454. Mumbai, the worst affected city in India, crossed 25,000 total COVID-19 cases. Although a cap has been put on private hospital's charges, Mumbai is aggressively heading towards an Italy like a situation where a lack of beds crisis struck.
Delhi brushed pass the 12,000 mark as it reported 660 fresh infections. Tamil Nadu witnessed it's biggest single-day spike as new 771 infections were reported in the last 24 hours, the total positive cases from the state stood at 13,967.
The Home Ministry has warned the state governments that lockdown 4.0 guidelines are not being implemented properly. The ministry emphasized the need for night curfew and has warned of a severe outbreak in cases if the states are being lenient.
Global tally of coronavirus infections crossed 5.1 million as 3,32,925 people succumbed to death due to the novel COVID-19 virus.
