India is now the 5th worst hit Covid-19 virus affected country, tally over 2.4 Lakh.
India, on Saturday, again reported their biggest single-day
spike with fresh
9971 Covid-19 cases, taking the nation’s Coronavirus tally up
to 246,628 as per the Union Health Ministry. This spike means that India
overtook Spain, which has over 2.41 lakh cases to become the 5th
worst affected Coronavirus country. Now only four nations, namely United
States, Brazil, Russia and the United Kingdom have more novel Covid-19 virus
cases. Globally, the total number of infections rose to about 6.66 million with
393,000 causalities.
India’s case fatality ratio (CFR) remains low:
A total number of deaths in India stand at 6929, almost half of the deaths
have occurred in the last fortnight. The Case Fatality Rate (CFR) of India
remained low at 2.8 per cent as compared to the global CFR average of 3.8 per cent. Russia’s case-fatality ratio is just 1.2 per cent, Brazil’s is at 5.5%
and the US tops the CFR list with 5.7 per cent. Meanwhile, India’s recovery rate
witnessed a marginal rise at stands at 48.25 per cent. 119,000 patients have
recovered from the deadly virus as the total number of active coronavirus cases
stood at 1.2 lakh.
ICMR says 1.42 lakh samples were tested on Saturday:
As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, 142,069 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The tally of the samples tested for Coronavirus in India till date stood at 46,66,386, said the ICMR on Saturday.
India is facing a huge task to curb the infections after the central government
partially opened the country, resuming major sectors on 5th June and
have also given permission to malls and religious places to re-open from 8th
of June as part of their Covid-19 exit strategy under “Unlock 1.0”.
