In conversation with Rini Chandra, the soulful singer and performer.
We have come across many singers in the world who have in some way or the other influenced us and have also given us our kind of peace through their expressive and soulful vocals.
Talking about the Indian music industry, it has given birth to incredible talents so far, who have gone ahead to make their mark globally as well.
To know a similar singing talent who has contributed to the music world as a whole and has garnered dedicated followers and fans over the past few years with her passion, perseverance and love for her craft, we got into a quick tete-a-tete with Rini Chandra, an extremely talented playback singer, who has so far bowled over her fans and listeners with his exemplary musical art and singing.
She participated in SaReGaMaPa Singing Superstar in 2010 and went on to perform for various concerts and sang for many Indian TV shows as well. Rini is also an actor who works in Indian television and holds expertise as a certified Italian chef as well. Let's get started.
• Let's begin by knowing your background, where were you born and brought up?
Rini: Well, I have had a childhood which made me travel from one country to another. So, I was raised in many different countries because of my father's job at the Ministry of external affairs of India.
• When did your journey in singing start?
Singing and music are subjects that I have always been inclined towards the most since the beginning. Hence, my journey into the musical world started quite early when I was in school at only 12 years of age. However, my professional journey began some eight years ago.
• Apart from being such a beautiful singer, you also have pretty looks, have you ever considered taking up roles in the movies?
Since my initial stage in the entertainment industry, I have been blessed to have gotten a lot of acting offers but was never keen on working in movies. However, I have tried my hands on a few TV shows like Singhasan Battissi, Yam hain hum and Vighnaharta Ganesha.
• In your singing career so far, who have you always idolised and drew great inspiration from?
Asha Bhonsle Ji highly inspires me as she is the most versatile singer ever. Also a lot of inspiration I draw from my mother who has been like the unconditional support in my life, making me believe that I can achieve anything in this field.
• Can you list out three of your most favourite tracks sung by you?
All the songs that I have sung in my career so far hold a special place in my life; but to name three out of them, I would say 'Doremon', 'Yaariyaan' and 'Bahar na jana.'
• Which song, according to you has been the biggest hit of your career?
I would say Doremon because it is my first single music video and is already doing exceptionally well in just a week. People are loving it and enjoying the track. I had initially not expected such recognition for the song.
• How did you spend time in lockdown and what did do you do to remain active as a singer or performer?
My lockdown time was very well utilised, I released a song with my sister Shivanggi Chandra called "Bahar na jana" and focused on my cooking skills as well, where I cooked several specialities and cuisines from all around the world.
• What are your current projects and what new releases can your fans and listeners expect shortly?
After SaReGaMaPa most of my time has been spent travelling around the globe doing a lot of stage performances. After the success of Doremon, I'm very soon going to be releasing my next wedding season special single called "Channa ve" composed by the legendary music director Jaidev Kumar Ji.
I have another Punjabi music video in the pipeline all set and ready to release right after Channa ve. I have been singing for Griebs music label as well and next month my two melodious songs would be releasing with them.
• Is there anything that you would like to tell your fans and young aspiring artists and singers?
My message to my fans whom I have named 'Rinears' is that keep showering me with all your love and blessings and let's make Doremon trending #RiniisDoremon.
Must listen to her new song Doremon, getting excellent response on all the music channels.
