In an interview with Robin Roberts, Kris Jenner discusses Caitlyn Jenner's transition

Key Takeaways:

Kris Jenner reflects on Caitlyn Jenner's transition and how her family handled it.

Kris was asked where she stands with Caitlyn Jenner, with whom she was married for 22 years and had two kids, Kendall, 26, and Kylie, 24, during a talk with Robin Roberts on Wednesday night.

"We're in good shape. Yes, we're pals, "Kris, a 66-year-old man, stated. "And I see her when she's with her family, so it's calmed down."

Kris stated, "Recalling her family's reaction to Caitlyn's transition, "It came as such a surprise to me. It's terrifying to go through because you have no idea what you're getting yourself into. It's a subject I never thought I'd have to directly deal with, address, or comprehend. Understand something I didn't tell you."

In October 2013, Kris and Caitlyn, 72, declared their divorce. Caitlyn publicly came out as transgender 2 years later. After Caitlyn's memoir was published in 2017, the stars went through a period of estrangement.

In The Secrets of My Life, Caitlyn Jenner claimed that Kris knew more about her gender identity struggle than she claimed, and both Kris and her daughters have acknowledged that the book caused a schism in the family.

On the other hand, Kris and the rest of the family appear to have patched up their connection with the former Olympian in the interim.

Kris acknowledged that she and Caitlyn were "extremely courteous" with one other last year while speaking with editor Kristina O'Neill for WSJ Magazine's The One. "She's the father of 2 of my kids, which speaks volumes," Kris said.

Kris expressed similar feelings about navigating the split when Caitlyn was transitioning during that interview.

"None of us had ever been through anything like it in a million years," Kris stated. "And also we didn't know how to process that —, and it was a process, a shock, and then a reality that we had to accept and attempt to get our heads around and learn about."

"What I thought was intriguing about it was that many fans of our show weren't expecting that either and were as confused, sad, and delighted at moments because there are so many different ways of looking at it," she stated.

During Wednesday night's conversation, Kris and her kids — Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, and Kourtney Kardashian — covered various topics, including Caitlyn Jenner.

Kim's infatuation with Saturday Night Live comic Pete Davidson and her ongoing divorce from Kanye West, Kourtney's engagement to Travis Barker, and Khloé's friendship with ex Tristan Thompson were among the topics discussed by the sisters.

Kim, 41, stated in a statement regarding her public divorce from the rapper: "You want to take the high road, but it may be difficult at times. I've always supported him speaking his mind... and when it comes to family, Kanye and I will always be family."

She said about her relationship with Davidson: "I'm a relationship girl, and I wouldn't be with someone if I didn't intend to spend a lot of time with them. Naturally, I'd like to take my time, but I'm quite pleased and content. It's also a wonderful sensation to be at ease."

Kourtney, 42, also talked to Roberts about her friendship-turned-romance with Barker, saying, "When we think about things like, 'This is us,' it's hilarious. 'Are you kidding me?' I had a sneaking suspicion that it would all be over if we gazed into each other's eyes and made it physical."

Meanwhile, Khloé, 37, addressed Thompson's previous affairs, stating that while "I still think he's a lovely guy and a fantastic father. I just don't think he's the right guy for me."
