A company named NordPass has put out a list through their research report in which they shared the most common passwords that people use in their everyday life. The most common passwords in any country point to the general online security awareness of its population. Turns out, Indians have also taken the "set password" instruction literally by using the word "password" as a password. The most popular password in India is actually the word "password", reveals new research. Japan is the second country to make the word "password" the most commonly used password. The research was conducted by NordPass, a proprietary password manager.
Behind “password” are more common combinations and words commonly used by people in India. According to the report of news agency IANS, these are "iloveyou," "krishna," "sairam," and "omsairam". “12345” has also been ranked very high in the list. Research shows how India prioritizes names and "love words" over numbers. For example people have passwords – “iloveyou,” “sweetheart,” “sunshine,” “lovely.”
Other common passwords in India include generic running series such as – “123456789,” “india123,” “qwerty,” “abc123,” “12345678,” “xxx” “abcd1234.” The most common password was “123456” in 43 of the 50 countries that were part of the analysis. As always, India stood apart with six other countries.
The study also said that it took less than a second for professional hackers to hack 62 out of 200 passwords in India. A strong password is the primary way to protect yourself and your personal information on the Internet. If you use any of these common passwords, you can still change them in time before your account gets hacked.
