Heading Ahead in Digital Literacy
In a nation
where more than half of its population is still striving to get access to a systematic
process of education, it becomes vital for an educational institute to reach
out and empower this segment. A large part of the population even today is isolated
to benefit from the country’s progress and needs to be served, uplifted and
developed with the right infrastructure and resources.
This is what
makes the Digital Literacy important and relevant in today’s time, said Professor
Charanpreet Singh, Founder-Director, Praxis Business School Foundation as he
announced the launch of the Digital Literacy Program Drive on Foundation Day,
30th July 2019.
In an attempt to
be a part of the National Digital Literacy Drive, Praxis Business School will
start the Digital Literacy Program in September 2019 aiming to meet the growing
desire among students in rural India to be part of its modernization process.
While Digital
literacy in India has a direct impact on per capita income of the people it
also helps students immensely to explore varied opportunities in terms of
growth, development, infrastructure for higher studies and employment.
The Digital
Literacy Program launched by Praxis Business School primarily aims to raise
digital literacy awareness that will help the rural communities to lead in
global digital economy. This program also aims to help in shaping a
technologically empowered society starting with a progressive focus on digital
and general literacy from the grass root level.
After more than
a decade in the education industry, Praxis as an educational institute feels
that it is time to incorporate
what can be achieved for the society and environment at large.
The Digital
Literacy Program by Praxis Business School is an effort to empower the rural
citizens by making them digitally literate. “Praxis works at the confluence of
business, technology and education. It is therefore logical that we should
contribute toward enhancing the Digital Literacy of the nation. We have decided
to invest money, time and intellect into creating this whole program of driving
Digital Literacy,” says Professor Singh.
“As we
contribute to expand the Digital Literacy Program in every corner of our
society, we move a step closer in creating a stronger and better skilled
workforce in the country,” says Professor Singh. He shares that there are
proven facts as to how Digital Literacy is making make a huge difference to the
socio-economic levels of a community at large.
The Digital
Literacy Program by Praxis Business School further aims to enable educational
institutions to adapt to a set of methodologies that will educate students in the
field of computer science and internet in their formative years.
The Digital
Literacy Program will largely be driven by the student community where they
will conduct 2 day workshops at neighbouring schools which do not have the
required infrastructure or resource to impart digital education.
“We will do more of this and we are in touch with national professional bodies in order to leverage their reach to deliver these programs” Professor Singh said.
