Gwyneth Paltrow Reveals 'Came Up' Chris Martin Using Daughter Apple's Name

"I thought it was original also cool," Gwyneth Paltrow told Instagram followers about her daughter's name, Apple.

Gwyneth Paltrow shares the story behind her daughter's name.

During a Q&A on Instagram on Friday, the Iron Man star revealed that her ex-husband Chris Martin was the one who presented the former couple name their daughter, now 17, Apple. 

When asked by a fan how he gave the name, Paltrow, 49, said, "His dad gave him that name, and I fell in love with him." "I thought it was original and cool," he added. "I can't imagine being called anything."

Paltrow shares Apple and son Musa, 16, with Martin, 45, and the stepmother of husband Brad Falchuk, son Brody also daughter Isabella.

Last month, in integrity of International Women's Day on March 8, the Shallow Hal star paid tribute to his daughter Apple with a heartfelt Instagram post: "Happy International Women's Day." I keep thinking about the women I got from kindergarten or seventh grade and who was more vital than ever in my life," Paltrow began the caption alongside a FaceTiming photo of their daughter.

"But today, I need to pay homage to one (technically almost) woman," he said of Apple. "This woman gave me hope for the future of our brotherhood and the future of our planet. And this woman, more than any other, made me the woman I am today."

Last September, the Goop founder honored his daughter with another National Girls Day Instagram post. Oh man, I love you #nationaldaughterday," she wrote in the caption for the couple's selfie.

A few days later, she celebrated Musa on National Children's Day by sharing a sweet selfie with the couple traveling together in the car.

"Melting heart #nationalsonday," she wrote in the caption.
