“Gratitude”: A Miraculous Medicine to Combat Mental and Psychological Health
Once you get up in the morning, popping out of the window, seeing creeping birds, dazzling sunlight, to name a few so-called beauty of nature, saying "hello" to you, 'can't we be thankful for our day? A second chance to live again after night?
Thankfulness to God for each newer opportunity every day is termed as Gratitude. Gratitude in Latin term means graciousness, grace or gratefulness. We commonly use the word "Thank you" in daily life to express our Gratitude to appreciate receipt of something from all.
In Modern science era, neuroscience has flourished several scientific interventions to prove the effect of Gratitude on the human brain. Neuroscientist Alex Korb reveals that expressing Gratitude, activates certain parts of the brain which releases dopamine ( decreased levels in 'Parkinson's disease) and can even boost up serotonin level (reduced in Alzheimer's diseases). Serotonin is also known as "Happy Hormone", elevated levels of serotonin feels one happy, and for us the 'human's social animals, happiness matters a lot. Dopamine being a "Reward"- neurotransmitter, increasing levels enhances one's capacity to do the same thing, you did. Another study has revealed that expressing Gratitude affects the quality of sleep, thereby increasing melatonin levels, which has a high impact on overall health. Expressing Gratitude has beneficial effects on Oxytocin a love-drug, expressing as a glue for relationship, marriage, and lovemaking activity.
Expressing Gratitude in advance can also be more likely to attract things you want as it has a drastic change in feeling what you have, and not being sad for what you 'don't have. Advancing gratitude acts as a magic tool to reprogram your subconscious mind, which attracts the thing you want. The "Things" might be relations, money, food, wealth, abundance, prosperity and a lot more.
In a nutshell, expressing Gratitude has beautiful effects on mental health to combat anger, stress and insomnia — emotional stress in the form of bad relations, fear, & excessive worry.
Three simple practices can make you attract things you want.
1. Gratitude journal: pen down at least ten things you are grateful, practice for 21 days.
2. Be thankful to whatever stuff you have, and you will be open to receive it more
