Government of India: Ban TikTok with 59 Chinese applications.

Modi government executes a big digital surgical strike against China. The government bans 59 Chinese applications including Tiktok, Shareit, and UC browser. 

The ban comes amidst the continuing India China faceoff in Ladakh. On June 15th, 20 Indian soldiers were killed in a clash with Chinese troops. Now lost access to one of the largest markets for the internet that is India. 



According to experts, this will be a major blow to china's Digital silk route. India has said that these apps are engaged in activities that are prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India. New Delhi has said that the move will safeguard the interests of crores of Indian internet users.

It is a massive move and unprecedented in recent history. These applications are extremely popular among youngsters TikTok cross the 2 billion marks soon after surpassing the 1.5 billion mark in the first quarter of 2020. Out of the 2 billion India turned out to be the biggest driver with more than six hundred and eleven million downloads on the App stores.
