General Bipin Rawat's dies, 13 out of 14 killed

An Army MI-17V5 helicopter crashed in the forest of Coonoor in Tamil Nadu around 12:20 pm on Wednesday. It caught fire after a helicopter crashed in a dense forest. CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika, and 14 Army officers were on board. According to reports, 13 bodies have been found so far. As a result, it is learned that General Bipin Rawat's wife died in the accident.

About an hour after the accident, it was reported that General Rawat had been taken to a military hospital in Wellington. No official statement has been declared on his condition. However, some reports are claiming that General Bipin Rawat is seriously injured. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh arrived at General Rawat's Delhi residence to meet his family. He will make a words in Parliament on Thursday regarding the tragedy.

General Bipin Rawat is the country's first Chief of Defense Staff. He took office on January 1, 2020. Rawat served as Army Chief from December 31, 2016, to December 31, 2019

According to news agency ANI, the helicopter was en route from Sulur airbase to Wellington. The aircraft crashed at 12:20 pm, just 10 kilometers from the landing spot. A team of doctors, army officers, and Cobra Commandos are present at the scene. The bodies found are being identified, as 85% have been burnt. Some more corpses have been found in the valley. The helicopter was wholly damaged and caught fire in the aftermath of the crash.
