Food shortages in Afghanistan could kill 1 million children by the end of year
The crisis that has erupted since the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan is deepening. The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that Afghans' lack of foreign aid could lead to a significant economic crisis. At the same time, it has issued a stern warning that the situation in Afghanistan will not improve amid the crisis. The WHO said that one million children could die of malnutrition by the end of this year due to lack of food.
32 lakh children will be malnourished
According to Reuters reports, the WHO has warned that a drop in temperature will further affect food availability as winter approaches. And 3.2 million children will be malnourished.
The Taliban government is not getting recognition.
The Taliban seized control of the Afghan capital, Kabul, on August 15 and formed their government. The governments of most countries do not recognize this government. These include European countries and the US, which provide large-scale economic assistance to Afghanistan. Due to which the economy there has completely collapsed.
The health sector stalled without celery.
The WHO has also warned about the health system in Afghanistan, which has been stalled for months due to the non-payment of salaries to most health workers. In a telephone conversation with Reuters ' Geneva correspondent, the concerns were raised in Kabul by WHO spokeswoman Margaret Harris.
The world cannot deny the situation in Afghanistan.
"It's like climbing a mountain and fighting because hunger has engulfed the country," Harris said. The world cannot turn its back on Afghanistan. "As the night temperature drops below zero degrees Celsius," he said. Older people and children will also suffer from other diseases due to such cold temperatures. Fuel is not available for hospitals, so people are cutting down trees in many places to supply power to hospitals.
