The New Vision 5 Live Breakfast will kick off in November, with Campbell switching to a new, newer phone slot. The new event runs from 9:00 to 11:00 and is based on your current one-hour Call, which is currently part of the breakfast slot.
"Congratulations to Rick," Campbell tweeted Wednesday. "He's a brilliant TV cameraman. He and @RachelBurden are going to be great." Edwards, who has been a guest host on 5 Live since 2019, will join a daily cast that includes Naga Munchetty, Adrian Chiles, Nihal Arthanayake, and Tony Livesey.
"For 5 Live, I am a long-time listener, first-time breakfast host," Edwards said in a statement.
"I've always loved the intoxicating combination of news, sports, and free conversation at the station. I realized I had some big boots to fill - I've checked, and Nikki Campbell is an eye-catching UK12! - but I'm so excited to wear it and sit next to the brilliant Rachel every morning."
The 42-year-old began his comedic career after graduating from Cambridge University with a degree in science. He has since appeared on television shows including River Hunters and Three's Free Speech.
Burdon, who co-hosted the 2011 Weekday Breakfast Show, said: "It is a pleasure and a privilege for me to start a new chapter at five live breakfasts with Rick. "He loves sports and is curious about the world our five families will love.
