Five Famous People Who Are All-In on Veganism
An increasing number of
people are now turning to veganism and plant-based food options to look after
their bodies. Some use it to lose weight, and others want to add more natural
nutrients to their diet. Then there are people like Korin Sutton, who changed his eating habits due to animal welfare
issues but have gone on to live their best lives.
Although there are so many benefits to adopting a vegan diet, it also seems that there is still a stigma from some who think that it’s something that puts limitations on a person’s ability to succeed in sports or other high-profile roles. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth as there are several prominent figures worldwide whose achievements are nothing short of remarkable, and they’ve done it while enjoying everything plant-based.
Joaquin Phoenix
The actor who was recently seen cast as the Joker in the film of the same name certainly doesn’t let the strains of Hollywood stop him from continuing to live his life as a vegan. The multi-Academy Award-winning actor has been a proud vegan since the age of just three and is one of the most steadfast supporters of a plant-based diet being good for him and the planet. Phoenix often uses his status to help spread positivity about the diet and has used his acceptance speeches as an opportunity to share his thoughts with others.
Although the next person on
this list isn’t associated with an activity known for needing its participants
to be at peak fitness, it’s been no less invaluable on their road to success.
As the six-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner, Daniel
Negreanu says going all-in on
a vegan diet has made him a better player.
However, since adopting his new
regime, he has continued his streak at the table, and he’s also managed to flip
the thinking of some of his opponents. He said: The other players are a lot
more accepting now; they embrace my veganism! In the past, they laughed at me.
Now they all want to try it.”
Sunil Chhetri is a football legend, which is highlighted by his prowess in front of a goal that has seen him fire himself alongside some of the greatest ever players in the game. When he scored India’s opening goal against Nepal back in October, he equaled the goal tally of Lionel Messi, with the pair scoring 80 goals for their respective countries. The 37-year-old is now two decades into a career that has seen him become of the country’s most revered sporting stars, and he said none of it would have been possible without his healthy vegan diet and regular exercise regime.
Lewis Hamilton
The seven-time Formula One world champion was a late adopter of a vegan diet and has certainly benefitted from it. He’s won the last four of his world titles since changing his eating habits in 2017, and he’s doubled down things even further off the track as the 37-year-old also has his chain of plant-based burger restaurants called Neat Burger. Hamilton has no regrets about making the switch, although he told Men’s Health magazine that it’s something he should have done a lot earlier.
Jacqueline Fernandez
Since 2010 Fernandez has been almost ever-present on screens across the continent, and the Sri Lankan-born star of TV and cinema is a firm believer in clean eating and is a very proud vegan. On her Instagram feed, the award-winning Bollywood actress said: “I went vegan, and I’ve never felt better. Now, I want to share that wonderful feeling with everybody I know. Going vegan is the best thing you can do to help stop animal suffering, protect the environment and safeguard your own health,”
