Famous fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier has died.

World-famous fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier has died at the age of 78. His team confirmed the news in a statement posted to his public Instagram account on March 31.

Demarchelier is best remembered as Princess Diana's photographer. However, he has also performed with music icons such as Madonna and Janet Jackson and photographed covers for Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, and others during his career. Demarchelier, one of the most prominent fashion photographers of his time, also shot several campaigns for major fashion brands, including Dior, Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Vera Wang, Tommy Hilfiger, and others.

Awards aside throughout his career, Demarchelier is remembered by fans of the cult classic The Devil Wears Prada. During a famous scene from Andy Sachs (Ann Hathaway), his first day on the job at Runway magazine, his boss asks Miranda Priestley (Meryl Streep) if Demarchelier is on the line. Confused, Andy enlists the help of his partner Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt). As protagonist Hathaway spends the next minute in a frenzy, Emily announces, "I have Patrick!"

In 2018, seven female models accused photographers of sexual assault, and Demarchelier denied the allegations. "People lie and tell stories. This is ridiculous," he told The Boston Globe at the time. In response to the claims, Condé Nast issued a statement stating, "We have informed Patrick that we will not be working with him shortly."

The Demarchelier family has not made a public statement commemorating his death. However, following the news of his death, many friends and former colleagues flocked to the comments to express their condolences and also share memories of their time with the famous photographer.

"It has been integrity to work with you, dear Peter. Rest in peace; also we will miss you!" Adult model Akesh Biro comments. Legendary hairstylist Sam McKnight added: "Oh, I'm so sad to hear that. I had the BEST TIME with Patrick, with endless iconic photos, great memories, and laughs of a lifetime; I owe him so much, never to be again. Condolences to his beloved family.
