Enormous winter storm cancels thousands of flights across the US

Key takeaways:

Travelers once again hit due to winter storms in the US:

Airlines revoked thousands of flights for the second time a week earlier of a vast winter storm prediction to affect Texas to New England areas.

According to flight-tracking site FlightAware, almost 2,200 US flights were revoked on Wednesday, and about 3,000 were planned for Thursday.

The National Weather Service stated severe icy rain is predicted to get from Texas through the Ohio River Valley and hefty snow through the Upper Midwest.

According to FlightAware, Southwest Airlines revoked almost 470 Wednesday flights, or 14% of its plan, and 805 flights, or 23%, scheduled for Thursday. It stopped flights at its house hub of Dallas Love Field on Thursday.

American Airlines revoked almost 537 mainline flights prepared for Wednesday and Thursday.

Around a third of the leaves prepared for Thursday from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, America’s largest hub, were revoked.

Airlines including Southwest, American, Delta, and United stated they would waive fare disparities for travelers who intend to rebook flights in the forthcoming days because of the storm.

The previous week, airlines grounded around 4,000 US flights due to another storm that pounded the Northeast.

Carriers typically revoke flights forward of extensive climate systems to bypass passengers and teams getting abandoned at airports, creating it more accessible to reset the process the next day.
