Egypt claims players were subjected to racism before the play-off against Senegal

In a report, the Egyptian Football Association [EFA] said it had lodged a legal complaint against its Senegalese counterpart ere the game, filing this with Fifa, the Confederation of African Football [CAF], the match observer, and the security official.


"The Egyptian team was subjected to racism after the arrival of nasty banners in the stands sought at the players, especially Mohamed Salah," the statement added.


"Moreover, the Senegalese fans threatened the Egyptian players by tossing bottles and rocks at them during the warm-up and striking the Egyptian team bus, which caused glass shattering and some wounds, documented with photos and videos attached to the complaint."


The EFA shared photos of the harm to the team bus on Instagram and pictures of the mean banner directed at Salah.
