Drew Barrymore said the younger "wouldn't take his advice

"I like to try to tell myself to respond gracefully," Barrymore told News Monday at the 26th Annual Webby Awards.

Drew Barrymore reveals what he would say to his younger self.

Walking the red carpet at the 26th Annual Webby Awards, the 47-year-old actress and talk show host spoke candidly about the advice she will now give to young Drew, who struggled with addiction at a young age.

"He wouldn't listen," Barrymore told news on Monday. "But now I have better advice for myself. I like to try to tell myself to respond gracefully. Be on the main road. Don't forget everything. Find peace, find peace." "These are things I wanted to say to myself as a child, but I never thought these things were possible and didn't want them. I want them now."

"I wanted some wild, rebellious fun," the Santa Clarita actress added.

Barrymore has previously been open about his "wild" past, including being admitted to Van Nice Mental Hospital for 18 months when he was 13 years old.

In honor of the premiere of season two of The Drew Barrymore Show last September, Barrymore, who lives in New York, toured Los Angeles and stopped at the institution where he spent time as a child. She recalls the experience in a video and talks about how it shaped her into today's woman.

"I was a wild kid and lost control because no one knew what to do," Barrymore said tearfully.
