Dr Alejandro Segarra: Enhancing Facial Beauty By ‘Drawing On Smiles’

When you hear the phrase ‘drawing on smiles’, pictures of pencils and crayon boxes come to mind. However, this form of drawing does not involve pencils. Nor does it involve paper. Dr. Alejandro Segarra, Diplomado Internacional de Med Estética, Barcelona, Madrid is a medical artist of a more physical, facial kind. From a passion which can be traced back to his youth, to a professional medical doctor now drawing on smiles, let’s face it, Segarra is a true artist!

When reflecting back on his childhood, Segarra says, “If I were to identify the beginning of my relationship with my work, I would have to look at my childhood memories. From childhood, I had a concern and interest in people's faces and features. I spent hours drawing faces or parts of them, of my idols at that time, or of any photo I found around the house.”

Who would have thought that the little boy drawing faces on paper back then, would someday turn out to be a medical doctor turning frowns upside down, one filler or non-surgical lip procedure at a time?

Between Papers And Pencils, A Passion Happened

“My father had a printing press, and together with my grandparents, they printed the newspaper in a very small city in Argentina called Casilda. There I spent hours between papers and pencils, drawing with my grandfather and my uncle. There, without responsibilities, time seemed to slow down. Only my attempt at work remained, and me. More than 30 years have passed and I am in Barcelona, in a space where I spend hours detained on the same details. Now the responsibility is greater, and time seems to go faster, but the passion remains the same,” explains Segarra.

Segarra studied at the National University of Rosario (Argentina). “I fulfilled the dream of being a doctor, and after some years and countries, searching for the branch of medicine that would most shelter me, I found aesthetics.” The world, according to this searcher for all that is beautiful, is full of creativity and awareness to explore.

Enhancing The Beauty Of Smiles, No Longer With Pencils

He adds, “My first steps in Buenos Aires augured challenges that took the wonderful Barcelona as the first stage. My concern to learn from the best, and my tireless search for perfection, found that passion for faces, and in a corner of this beautiful city, I spend my days learning to enhance the beauty of faces, no longer with pencils, but drawing smiles.”
